The Purpose of the Young Adults Ministry focuses on reaching out to young adults from ages 25-45 ensuring their connection to the body of Christ. Many young people grow up in the church, struggle with faithfulness to God and seeing the vision of the church therefore, somewhere along the way become disconnected from church. This ministry creates a space for those who have disconnected themselves from church to reconnect by allowing them to see the beauty of Holiness through other saints their age.
1 Timothy 4:12 states, “be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” In this fellowship, there are young adults who are examples of the Body of Christ, giving a visual road map to those struggling with seeing the vision of the church. This ministry is to help keep the Young Adults rooted, grounded, and connected, so they can clearly see the vision.
This ministry took root back in 2017, when Elder Joshua Maples decided to have his birthday celebrated that year with some of the young adults who struggled with their spiritual walk. Not knowing that through this fellowship and the discussions which took place this ministry was about to unfold. Elder Joshua noticed that some of the young adults in the ministry grew up in church, but church never grew up in them. Oftentimes, the young people do not see the vision of those who are of the older generation, but the older saints’ vision is not to think of themselves, but of the next generations.
1 Peter 2:9 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light; 10 Which in time past were not a people but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Those Young Adults who are on the fence about church need to know that everyone has a past, or was not a people as the scripture states, but through the power of the Holy Ghost, they have a chance to be a part of something different and everlasting, such as being a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a peculiar people.
