Anthony L. Byrd Higher Education Fund
Founded circa 1994, by Deacon Tyrone Byrd in honor of the late Anthony L. Byrd, the son of Tyrone and Mary Francis Byrd. The Anthony L. Byrd Higher Education Fund has given more than 35 scholarships to students not only in Memphis but across the nation.
The Anthony L. Byrd Higher Education Fund has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships to deserving students helping students to complete their educational journey. Teachers, lawyers, dentists, engineers, doctors, and even professional basketball players have benefited from receiving a scholarship from this auspicious educational fund. Armed with a 5013c nonprofit status, the Fund has been able has been a staple in the Memphis Community benefiting students not only in the Tri-State Area, but nationwide. For more than 30 years, this scholarship fund has helped students receive scholarships to attend colleges such as University of Memphis, Rhodes College, LeMoyne-Owen College, Christian Brothers University, University of Tennessee, and several other institutions in our nation.
Today, the Scholarship Fund continues to supply scholarships for young people across the nation.
