This is a special letter to all children to encourage you to obey your parents. Children you have a special role in the family dynamics, as you grow up your role is to obey your parents, attend school, perform any assigned chores around the house, attend church services with your parents and communicate with them to build a strong family foundation.
Ephesians 6:1-3 reads Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honor thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. When you obey your parents, God smiles on you and blesses you and your family.
Children, you may think it is a challenge to honor your parents or you may not quite understand how this is accomplished. Let me share with you an easy way for you to understand one way to honor your parents. Your parents are honored as you attend elementary, middle, and high school and can attend the parent and teacher conferences at your school. Your parents are proud and honored when they can attend these conferences and hear the teacher say great words about you and your success in school. As you move and advance to each stage of school your parents are honored again and again because you excelled. The milestone of High School Graduation and college acceptance letters is another great honor and proud feeling bestowed upon your parents. Upon graduation, as you walk across the stage and receive your high school diploma, your parents are beaming on the outside and experiencing feelings of joy and excitement for your accomplishment on the inside. If you were able to be in two places at one time on graduation day, and sit next to them in the audience, you would see and hear your parents yelling and cheering the loudest for your magnificent accomplishment. This is one of the highest ways to honor your parents.
Parents want to do and be the best parents for their children, and children should want and be the best child/children for their parents. I challenge both children and parents to communicate, pray and build a strong family foundation.
